Rony

Artist Picture

Born June 30, 1971, Rony Shubich lives in Mexico. She received her diploma from the National Art School for the Culture of Arts, studying there and at the National Art School from 1991 to 1996. She was awarded her degree in 1997. Rony has exhibited extensively in Mexico, showing at la Galeria Pedro Gerson, the opening of the Modern Art Cafe, Galeria Estructure Ausente, and Centro Nacional de las Artes. Numerous group exhibitions include several showings at the Centro Deportivo Israelita, "Holi-Art-Ayuda" to benefit UNICEF, and el Colegio Americano. Her professional activities include interviews in the United States for newspaper, television and local magazines in New Jersey, interviews on Nuestra Casa with Jorge Muniz, and teaching personalized art classes for children. Rony, although artistic, did not start as an artist. She rose to the number two rank in tennis for Mexico, but it was not enough for a 16 year old--she quit. Subsequently, she moved on to her main obsession: art. Her father, a painter and architect, taught her to add effects and texture and to paint quickly. She graduated from La Esmeralda, an art institute in Mexico City, but did not feel she had gained a complete education, moving on to the National Art School for further education. Although Rony began as a painter, her artistic urges led her to sculpture, working with elements of wood and metal. She wishes to show the reality of people and objects--to whisk away the many masks that we wear.
